ABOUT KELLY ASH
Kelly Ash is a vocalist, songwriter, pianist, and music educator based in Seattle. Kelly is actively performing as a contemporary/pop vocalist and bandleader, and creating innovative curricula for young contemporary vocalists, pianists, and songwriters who want to blend genres and find their own voice. Kelly performs actively in the Seattle area and the Pacific Northwest as part of her own quintet (The Kelly Ash Band), along with the 12-piece Nearly Dan (performing the music of Steely Dan), 313 Soul, and the Blue Wave Band (a high-energy band of local musicians bringing top-quality music to private events). Kelly also co-teaches an independent songwriting class with local multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Andrew Vait (SISTERS, Little Wins), helping young songwriters find their voice and connect with other local musicians.
ABOUT KELLY'S BAND:
Kelly Ash, along with her hard-hitting band of Seattle’s finest, creates fun, upbeat tunes and soulful ballads with 70s and 80s funk/soul/pop influence in their groovy bass lines and catchy synth hooks. With a background in jazz (Kelly holds a Master of Music in jazz from NYU) as well as years fronting top-40 dance bands, Kelly’s songwriting captures both the irresistible impulse to dance, as well as the honesty, richness, and vulnerability that she always loved about singing jazz standards. With three singles out, Kelly’s new original music project has already made a splash on the Seattle scene, and the band looks forward to a full-length album release in 2020.
Kelly’s powerhouse band includes Andrew Vait (SISTERS, Little Wins), Dave Dalton (Macklemore, 2AM Club), David Dawda (Fruit Bats), RL Heyer (Your Sweet Action, Flowmotion), and Brad Boal (Nearly Dan).
